Traveling to the Princeton Area This page provides information for out-of-town guests to get to the Princeton area. For information on traveling between the reception and the ceremony, see our Event Details page.
There are two airports in the area, Newark and Philadelphia. Princeton is approximately 1 hr 10 mins from Newark, and 1 hr 30 mins from Philadelphia. Although the distances are roughly equivalent, Newark Airport has far more options for getting to and from Princeton. Transport between Newark Airport and Princeton can be provided by:
The main rail station in the Princeton area is not Princeton, but Princeton Junction. This NJ Transit route map illustrates (focus on the red Northeast Corridor line.) Trains to Princeton Junction leave New York Penn Station and Philadelphia's 30th St Station regularly. Many of these trains stop at the Newark Int'l Airport station along the way. Of course, consult the Amtrak and New Jersey Transit websites for current schedules and fares. From Princeton Junction, a two-car train (known as the "Dinky") makes the five-minute trip to Princeton. The map on our Hotel Info page provides an idea of the location of the Princeton Junction train station (circled in blue) relative to Princeton itself. *Note*: Guests going directly to their hotel should take a taxi from Princeton Junction -- there is no need to go into Princeton first.
From the North (New York): take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 9 (New Brunswick). Beyond the tollbooth, follow signs for Trenton (Route 18 west for 0.5 mi, then Route 1 south to Trenton). Travel approximately 15 miles to Washington Rd. Turn right toward the center of Princeton; the University is about 1 mile ahead. From the South (Washington, Philadelphia, Trenton): take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 8 (Hightstown); follow signs for Hightstown and then Princeton. Or, take I-95 north, which becomes I-295 south above Trenton, to Route 206 north toward Lawrenceville and Princeton. In Princeton, take Route 27 north (Nassau Street) to the University and the center of Princeton.
There is a taxi stand at the Princeton Junction train station (southbound side), as well as on Nassau Street in Princeton. Trips from Princeton Junction station to Princeton cost $10-15, and to the hotels $15-20 -- be sure to agree on the price before getting in, they charge by flat fee, not per mile.
